Meet Matt, your travel designer and guide

Kia ora, I’m Matt. I’ve spent a lifetime exploring Aotearoa — not just its landscapes, but its people, its pace and the quiet places most visitors never see. For more than a decade, I’ve designed and personally guided private journeys across New Zealand for travellers who value depth, discretion and genuine connection. From remote alpine passes to wild coastlines and meaningful cultural encounters, I share the country in a way that feels considered, unhurried and deeply personal.

Video transcript: New Zealand isn’t a destination or product for me. It’s my home. I was born and raised here. And I’m the most passionate Kiwi you’ll ever meet. And I feel somewhat sad when tourists come to my country and they don’t see the best places. They don’t meet the best people. And that’s often because they’re following a generic path generated by AI or something they’ve seen on Instagram. And while these places are okay, it’s not the real New Zealand. It’s not the New Zealand I love. It’s not the New Zealand I grew up in. The New Zealand I love is quieter. It’s more peaceful. It’s more serene. It’s away from tour buses. It’s the places that aren’t yet famous on social media. For me, luxury isn’t just a nice hotel and a great bottle of wine, although those are good. It’s about peace. It’s about serenity. It’s about being on an isolated beach at the bottom of the world with nobody else around. That is luxury. And that is the experience I want to create for you.

Why New Zealand?

New Zealand rewards those willing to travel a little further. Set at the edge of the South Pacific, it offers an extraordinary concentration of landscapes within a relatively small country — snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers, geothermal valleys, dramatic coastlines and vast open farmland, often all within a single day’s drive. Here, you can walk through native forest in the morning, fly over alpine peaks by midday, and end the evening beside the ocean with a glass of local wine.

But New Zealand is more than scenery. It is shaped by Māori culture and heritage, by a strong sense of connection to land and sea, and by communities that value craftsmanship, sustainability and quiet excellence. Luxury here is understated. Lodges are thoughtfully designed rather than grand. Food is seasonal and local. Wine regions are intimate and unhurried. Space, privacy and time are luxuries in themselves.

This is a country best experienced slowly — away from the obvious routes, and guided with intention.
